Hello neighbors - all 1,363 of you! 😀 I am so excited to see us growing so quickly. To those that have been talking Wander Jersey up - we see you - and we thank you. Please continue sharing so we can make this the best - and most personal resource out there for finding things to do!

So, are you a rock, paper, scissors master?

Did you beat out the kids on the playground every time? Well, that mad skill just might win you $10,000! The New Jersey Lottery is hosting the first ever Rock Paper Scissors Throwdown at the American Dream Mall on March 29th and 30th. You do need to register - so head on over to the website and do that today to join the fun.

Now, on to the lineup for this weekend!

Garden State Film Festival 🎞️
From 3/27-3/30 you can take in the all the great independent films at the Garden State Film Festival. This festival takes place in various locations around Cranford and Asbury Park. Tickets range in price from $20 to $175 depending on what you are interested in.

Edelman Fossil Park and Museum🦖 
On March 29th the Edelman Fossil Park and Museum in Mantua is celebrating their grand opening. The tickets for the first couple of days are sold out. I would recommend getting tickets now for a future date. This will be a popular place to be!

🎼 Jersey City - The Fest for Beatles Fans from 5pm to 12am (tickets start at $90 - show runs 3/28-3/30)

👨‍🎤 New Brunswick - Dear Evan Hansen at the State Theater (tickets start at $50 - show runs 3/28-3/30)

🍺 Atlantic City - Beer & Music Festival from 12pm-11pm (tickets are about $90)

❄️ Bayville - Winterfest from 3pm-7pm ($10 wristbands)

🍫 Edison - The Chocolate Expo from 10am-6pm ($20 adults/$10 child/under 5 free)

🚂 Edison - Greenberg’s Great Train & Toy Show from 10am to 4pm (tickets $10-$11, show runs from 3/29-2/20)

🎢 Jackson - Great Adventure opens for the season

🎼 Lakewood - The Ultimate Doors at the Strand starts at 8pm (tickets $36-$47)

🏎️ Millville - Elite Tuner Season Opener at the NJ Motorsports Park from 3pm-8pm (tickets start at $20)

The feature image this week comes from Matawan, a small town in Monmouth County. Lake Lefferts sits in the center of town and is a great place to walk and do some canoeing.

But, many do not realize that at one time - Matawan was a place where JAWS came to life!

On July 12, 1916, Matawan Creek—miles from the ocean—became the scene of a real-life horror story. Locals laughed off a sea captain’s shark warning about a shark…until 11-year-old Lester Stillwell was pulled under while swimming with friends (and a dog!) at what was then Wyckoff Dock. Rescuer Stanley Fisher dove in to help but was bitten and later died from his injuries. Just 30 minutes later, 14-year-old Joseph Dunn was attacked nearby—but survived after a tug-of-war with the shark.

If you have been to this area - you would be amazed at how a shark was able to get into this waterway - but it did and left a lasting story to tell! 🦈
