FEATURED PLACE
New Jersey Glows Underground & It Is A Must See 🪨

Tucked away in Ogdensburg is the Sterling Hill Mining Museum. It sits on the site of the last working underground mine in New Jersey and dates back to the 1630s. The mine did not close until 1986.

I took a tour many years ago - and it is one you will not really forget! I am always surprised how many have never heard of this hidden piece of history.

The guided walking tour runs about two hours and takes you a quarter mile into the earth. You will experience the Zobel Hall Museum, the mine, and the Warren Museum on the tour. The mine portion is about an hour, with the museums each being about 30 minutes.

Most visitors come for the world-famous fluorescent "Rainbow Tunnel," where UV lights reveal over 350 minerals glowing in the dark, roughly 10% of all known minerals in the world, right here in NJ.

Daily public tours start on June 29, 2026 and are scheduled at 1pm through September 7, 2026. The remainder of the year is weekends only. Adults are $15, children ages 4-12 are $13, under 4 are $5 and seniors are $14.

FEATURED HOME
A Log Cabin, a Brick Wing, and Salem County's Best Secret

Built in the 1680s as a log cabin, and still showing those original exposed log walls inside, "Forkland" is one of Salem County's oldest surviving homes.

A century after the first settlers called it home, someone added a brick wing with four corner fireplaces and a walk-in colonial kitchen with the original cedar mantle still intact. This Old House came calling, and now you can too: this 3-bedroom, 7-acre piece of New Jersey history is currently listed at $550,000.
